The mouth of the lagoon and the wide sandy beach of Foz
do Arelho are a 15 minute walk away, with safe bathing
for children in the lagoon. Foz do Arelho is a small old
fishing village that is slowly becoming a popular
holiday resort town due to the area's excellent bathing
conditions. There is a good choice of restaurants, cafes
and bars in the town and along the coastal road.
The town of Caldas da Rainha is a 10 minute drive from
the house. The delightful old town of Obidos, which
still stands within medieval walls dating back to the
Moorish occupation, is about a 20 minute drive away.
Lisbon town centre is about 85 kilometres away by
motorway.
Praia del Rey Golf course, within a 15 minute drive,
is ranked no. 1 in Portugal by Peugeot's 2003 Guide and
13th best in Europe by Golf World.
